Once again we are inviting the community at large to join us at our annual Remembrance Day service. This year, we are privileged to have the Pyrenees Chorale perform for us. We hope to see you there. We are hoping that people are willing to come out again after enduring quite a long Covid hibernation. This is our first photo competition since 'Capturing Character' in 2018. So here is the flyer calling for entries. If you cannot download the entry form below please contact Jennifer. Her details are on the poster The weather was kind for our Easter photo exhibition with the crowds coming to both days. The standard was very high and we had a record number of entries with the judge choosing seventeen Highly Commended photos (it is usually just a couple It took a long time for him to finally choose a winner. So here are the final results. We would like to thank all the photographers for making our show such a high standard.
Without you there is no show. Easter is near and so is our Exhibition. We have many fantastic photos in the competition and a market with lots of variety of goodies for sale. The Easter egg hunt for the children should be fun and the Sunday 'Meet & Mingle' is always a winner.
Just remember in your Easter weekend to come to the exhibition in Moonambel either Saturday or Sunday. Once again we are holding an Easter Photographic Competition.
The theme, 'Capturing Character', is opening up a world of imagination and we expect to see many different interpretations. Entry forms are available from Jan Curtis (see poster) Thanks, Bernard, for your imagination which goes beyond the theme of the event. We love it! The public was given the task of choosing a favourite artwork. Not an easy task with the quality and variety of the entries. Eventually, at the 'Meet and Greet' on Sunday afternoon, 'Moonambel CBD' by Maggie Barnes-Oake was declared the favourite. Maggie is our own very talented artist who has many artistic styles under her belt both 2D and 3D but is recently dabbling in caricatures involving Moonambel people, places and events. We always enjoy seeing her latest work recognising who and what she is depicting in each artwork. We wonder what she will do in her next venture. Local politician Louise Staley donated the $200 prize and enjoyed being able to meet the artist as well as present the cheque. The event concluded with the magnificent spread and local wines being enjoyed by one and all... Another successful event put the rest.
All photos by Graeme Akers Our next exhibition is in the very early planning stage. We hope to hold a multi media exhibition titled 'Celebrating Colour'
MAHG invites all artists to submit work incorporating the theme of colour. Watch this space for more information as we confirm dates etc. THE WINNERS:BEST OF SHOW sponsored by Moonambel Arts & History group (MAHG) WAITING FOR THE SUN by Chris Kaszubski PEOPLE'S CHOICE: MOST POPULAR sponsored by Louise Staley MLA FLIGHT by Wally McDonald PEOPLE'S CHOICE: MOST HUMOROUS sponsored by Pyrenees Art Council COLBY'S HAPPY PLACE by Robin Ross The weekend saw scores of people passing through our doors. We heard many positive comments and we feel that this has been the best photo exhibition to date. The quality was astounding. Even though only one person could win, the Stawell Camera Club judges wanted to say that many were of winning quality and it was very hard to narrow down to just one. So to all those wonderful people who entered this year, please enter again next year to showcase your talents. Who knows...you may win!
There are 138 photos to be viewed. Finding the best in the show was an extremely hard job. Nobody envied the independent judges. The Moonambel Rec. Reserve Committee always stage a market on the Saturday morning of our 2 day exhibitions. The community looks forward to a browse of the stalls as well as patronising our exhibitions. We also run a barbecue and Devonshire teas at the market as part of providing a service for the community. |
