Our annual photo competition is on once more. This time we invite photographers to give us a wide range of interpretations of the theme. Contact Jan or Kaye for an entry form if you can't download the one here.
Photos can be left at the Moonambel General Store or contact us if you prefer another form of delivery. Get thinking! It will be on us before we realise! MAHG is thrilled to congratulate Maggie Barnes-Oake, on winning the 2015 Pyrenees Shire Acquisitive Award which is part of the Beaufort Agricultural Art Show. Her successful painting, 'Moonambel's Longest Lunch', will be on display at the opening of 'Moonambel Through My Eyes' on Sunday, December 13 at 3pm onwards. Unfortunately, this piece will not be for sale. Maybe we will see it hanging somewhere in a Pyrenees Shire building. Look out for it!
On Saturday evening we were treated to the MCTC Peter Dawson performance at the local Hall. Adrian van den Bergen performed the songs while Micheal Matthews accompanied him on piano. Steve Lane and Gwynnyth van den Bergen read us Peter's biography giving us an insight into the singer including his wonderful Aussie larrikinism. Steve & Gwynnyth also accompanied Adrian in two duets. A very entertaining evening indeed. What will we see next? The pantomime 'Cinderella' in November.
It's nearly here!
For more details, see our previous blog. See you at Easter!
Local Artist's SuccessMaggie Barnes-Oake entered her work at the Pyrenees Art Exhibition in Beaufort over the long weekend. She won first prize in the pairs section with two 30cm x 30cm pastels on canvas titled Market Place - Here, There, cartooning a sheep market on one and a mirror image of sheep marketing humans in the other. The judge, Gordon Morrison, Director of the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, described them as quirky - high praise in Maggie's mind. Both were sold so we don't have a photo. Disappointing for us but congratulations to Maggie for a fantastic effort. Maggie will be exhibiting in the upcoming Core of my Art exhibition in October. Sundial UpdateOur mosaicists have achieved a milestone by completing the number pavers for the sundial to be placed at the Moonambel Common.
