‘An Introduction Sumie – Zen Brush Painting Workshop’ with Gerard Menzel took place at the Moonambel Pavilion on Saturday 9 May, 2015.

Twelve people attended and were quickly captured by  the breathless
beauty of creating marks on paper using traditional Japanese ink and brushes.

Gerard shared his personal techniques and influences.  A DVD added further information and color to the workshop.

Sumie is a beautiful way to paint nature and the world in all its beauty  and grace. Silence filled the pavilion as the twelve people focused upon art of placing  the soft and delicate brushstrokes upon paper.

The afternoon closed with all creating and illustrating an adage, many were heartfelt, others light hearted, each one was appreciated.
