MCTC Babes in the Woods Production

30/6/2019

PictureCostume designer Gwynn van den Bergen and Producer Steve Lane.

Once again Steve Lane  and
Gwynn van den Bergen somehow managed
to take the amateur Moonambel
fun loving mob and manipulate their talents
to produce a magnificent and
very entertaining pantomime.

PictureFairy Agnes (Kaye Hutton) with her charges Bart (Robyn Akers) and Lisa (Mick Matthews)
For a start,
most of the cast was

in role reversal.

How hilarious to see
'the Babes',

Bart and Lisa, with
Fairy Agnes casting her spells
'protecting' them.

As for Carmen Gettit,
the Cook,

who could resist her charms (and food!).

PictureThe Merry Men: Will Scarlett (Jenny Mackay), Friar Tuck (Jan Curtis), Robin Hood (Sanne Malkaer) and Little John (Marnie Reece-Wilmore).

                                                                                  Of course everyone loved
the hero, Robin, and his Merry Men.
His love interest, Maid Marion, was
sooooo delightful!

Picture
Robin Hood (Sanne Malkaer) with his beloved Maid Marion (Bernard Abadie)
It wouldn't be a pantomime without the villains.
They were very skilfully played by some of the female members of the cast.

Special mention should be made
of Graeme Akers, the Minstrel,
who who sang ditties between acts. Graeme also composed this amusing entertainment for the performance.

Picture
Trumpeters (and stage crew) Phil Staynes and Gillian Matthews.

All was saved by King Richard, of course,
who rewarded his subjects
for their loyalty to him.
So everyone, except the Sheriff of course,
was able to live happily ever after.

Sigh....
The end

MCTC  presents 'New Directions'

15/9/2018

PictureThe Cast
The Moonambel Community Theatre Company took the challenge of  creating new directors in this production.
Steve Lane stepped back into acting while Sanne Malkaer and Marnie Reece-Wilmore applied their skills to directing.
Gwynn van den Bergen was once again a main director.
The 3 plays were very different in their content but all entertained the audience.
This is a new development in the Company and proved to be very successful.

MCTC performs at Moonambel Midwinter Festival

16/7/2018

Moonambel Community Theatre Company was invited to take part in the inaugural Midwinter Festival, an MEI event. Being a small but vibrant community, the theatre company was only too pleased to assist.

They helped to create the atmosphere of Steve Lane's original refrain by joining with the Pyrenees Chorale to walk lights towards the welcoming bonfire.  While beautiful music filled the air hot air balloons were released into the night.

Hopefully, the Festival will be repeated in the future.

MCTC Performs at Local Hall 80th Celebration

27/11/2017

Picture
The Moonambel Mechanics Hall had a weekend of celebrating the 80th Anniversary of 'new' hall. (The old one washed away in the floods of 1937!)

MCTC performed 'Its Raining At Lulubels's where we were entertained with an impression of how it must have been back then with the community coming together to build the hall we know today.

Lots of music, comedy and entertainment as we were taken through the 4 years it took to build.

Little Red Riding Hood rave reviews.

7/12/2016

Picture
The local newspapers gave rave reviews
for the MCTC pantomime  'Little Red Riding Hood'.

The players once again showed their
acting ability and had the audience wondering
what was going to happen next.

The main Characters...
Picture

In a nutshell, the wolf became a Prince after 3 fairies changed him back from a previous curse so Red Riding Hood's mother, Violet, got her man!.

Meanwhile, the Woodsman also won over Grandma, a refugee Russian Countess, and the butcher and Sophie, townspeople, paired up as well. Not quite the way we remembered the tale but quite amusing in its interpretation.
Then there were these exta characters...

Let the pictures tell the tale...

Watch this space for more information on the upcoming  Moonambel Community Theatre Company production of the pantomime
                        'Little Red Riding Hood'.
Same actors, different characters and a story you haven't seen before!
Steve Lane puts a twist to the story telling things you didn't know happened in this traditional tale. Another production not to be missed.

Small Town Transformation update...

7/4/2016

We were not successful in gaining the RAV grant
but we have gained a lot of insight and knowledge in how
we wish to proceed with this ongoing project.
Thank you to the townspeople for your enthusiastic support.

MCTC  Performance

The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society's Production of Macbeth

We were well entertained by Moonambel Community Theatre Company once again. This time, they excelled with a performance written by David McGillivray & Walter Zerlin Jnr.

The play involved a cast of mainly females playing many roles, as written in the script. Basically, the audience was laughing throughout the entire performance due to the acting skills of these wonderful local people.

Once again, Steve Lane and Gwynn van den Bergen trained the players and we saw some new faces on the stage.

Let the photos, taken by Graeme Akers, tell the story.
